Highland Grown and It’s the Richest Kind “Coffee from Its Birth Place”

Legend has it, there was a holy man called Bunno, one of the son’s of Meecha
clan (todays keffa area). He lived around the town Bunno-Badale. That holy man
died with tragic accident by bull, tears of the Almighty God dropped on his grave,
years later a tree has grown on his grave with reddish berry fruits and named
after the holy man. Bunna is a local name of coffee in Ethiopia. Coffee is seen as
the flesh of Bunno and trears of the almighty God. Long after; in the highlands of
Ethiopian a place called Keffa, approximately 1,500 years ago, a goat herder
called Kaldi discovered the energetic effects of coffee. After some of his goats
ate the red berries from coffee tree, they became very lively and playful. Kalid
took the berries to the closest monastery where the monks disapproved of their
use and threw all the berries into fire. Suddenly the air was covered with an
amazing aroma. The roasted beans were quickly raked from the berries, ground
up and dissolved in hot water, yielding the world’s first cup of coffee.
Where do Coffees Grow in Ethiopia and what makes it world’s
best Coffee?
Ethiopia produces some of the most unique and fascinating coffee’s in the world.
The rule of thumb is the higher the coffee is grown the harder the bean, the
better the flavor. The slow maturation of high grown coffee gives the tree more
time to pull all of that rich yumminess out of the soil and often its shade grown
and organically cultivated. When coffee grown in the shade of native trees;
tropical tree shade the delicate coffee plants from the hot afternoon sun, they
provide refuge for many delightful birds that happily eat the critters (bugs) that
damage coffee plants and will be unnecessary to spray insecticide. Mountain
grown coffee is also picked by hand only upon ripping, one cherry at a time.
The three main regions where Ethiopian coffee beans originate are Harrar,
Ghimbi and Sidamo (Yirgacheffe)
